Cake Baking

I'm not a great cook.. in actual fact I dont really cook at all-not out of laziness just due to the fact that I can't do it!
I really have a sweet tooth and thought I would have a shot at baking some little fairy cakes.

Was just a simple recipe (out of a packet lol) and I had to add 2 eggs and water and then mix and put into those little paper cake cases. BUT..I did decorate them myself and made my own buttercream icing with icing sugar and butter. All of the cakes were plain vanilla flavour and I added chocolate, vanilla and strawberry icing to them. I also added little decorations that I bought to make them look pretty :)

I havent tasted them yet I'm planning on waiting for someone else to eat one first and be my guinea pig just incase they are awful lol.

And here they are...

What do you all think?? Move over Gordon Ramsey ;)

NOTW: Nails of the week - Purple glitter

I love having my nails done and love to have them all different colours and styles. Today I've gone for purple glitter nails.

I used 3 nail polishes - MUA shade 12 (Pale purple), Barry M shade 303 (Bright purple) and Beauty UK topcoat (Clear). I also used a small pot of fine glitter in a pale purple colour which you can get some most beauty stores, I got alot of mine from ebay they are really cheap and have lots of colours to choose from.

Step by step
1 - Firstly I applied the pale purple and bright purple polish to my nails. I decided to paint one nail darker than the rest on each hand as you can see in the picture. I had to apply 2 light coats of each as both need an extra coat to give the full colour. Only do light coats though as too many ayers will make the nails tacky and seem like they never dry.

2 - Next I applied the glitter. I did this by dipping the clear topcoat polish brush into the pot of glitter so that the glitter stuck to the polish. Then I brushed it over the top of the purple nail polish. Make sure you get plenty of clear polish on the brush when brushing it onto the nail or you'll find it quite hard to apply. You can always pop more glitter on if need be. Another way you could apply the glitter is by applying the topcoat to the nails then dipping them into the glitter. You would need to put another topcoat over the top to seal it though and I've found in the past that this can make my nails quite tacky as its giving them an extra coat.

...and thats it! Simples :)

I do this technique all of the time and experiment with nail polish colours and glitter colours. I try to match both together but it looks equally as good when mixing and matching. The glitter really brightens up the nail polish and looks lovely when it catches the light!

I hope you like it.. let me know if you give it a try :)

Review: Tresemme Split Remedy

I recieved a sample of the new Tresemme shampoo and conditioner 'Split Remedy' in my ASOS order and having noticed a few split ends in my hair recently I thought I would give it a go. I've usued a lot of the Tresemme products in the past and do like the shampoos as they smell great and leave my hair feeling smooth and soft.

In the sample pack I got the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment.

I only managed to get 2 days worth out of the shampoo and conditioner so didn't get the full effect as it says on the packet that you will notice a difference after 3 days. But saying that I did find my hair really soft and not as frizzy at the ends, which is usually what happens to my hair when it is due a good cutting! The smell was lovely and stayed on my hair after it had been dried and straightened.
I used the leave-in treatment once and just applied the whole packet in one go. My hair felt lovely and silky and I did notice a difference. My hair was left shiny and smelling gorgeous and I couldn't stop playing with it!

I would definatley buy this product and will be doing so once I have finished using the products I already have. I will keep you updated on how I find the product once I have bought the full size bottles as it will give me a chance to try them out for a longer period of time and hopefuly give a bit more of an in depth review :)

Aztec Print

I don't have anything in the aztec style print which is quite popular at the minute. I was just out and about yesterday and spotted this dress in a local shop in my town called Select. I havent seen many of this shop about so not sure if its very popular but it has a website which is www.selectfashion.co.uk
They always have a sale on and have some really nice stuff too. I was just browsing passing the time and came across this aztec style dress.

It was only £11.00 reduced from £14.00 in the sale and looks great on. I was quite lucky as it was the only one left and was my size phew! The picture isnt the best but the actual colours are pastels(ish).

Crosses

I've seen a lot of jewellery lately with crosses on them and I really like some of them. So.. I've decided to buy some! I bought a bracelet and some earrings from Matalan (I love the jewellery in this shop they have so much to choose from and every colour imaginable!).

So this is what I bought..

£4.00 £2.00 Matalan Sale
£5.00 Matalan

The bracelet has a large gold metal cross and a material strap. It was only £2.00 in the sale!!!!!! Absolute bargain!
I also got some gold drop earrings, which unfortunatley weren't in the sale but were only £5.00 anyway! I've tried them in and they look great.. they arent too over the top so would look good to wear just casually during the day or on a night out.

I've seen a few bits on the internet which I also really like so thought I'd share them with you, hopefully I can get a few of them. Let me know what you think!
£5.00 Miss Selfridge
£8.50 Miss Selfridge

£6.00 ASOS
£2.50 River Island
£7.50 Miss Selfridge

Another Primark Shopping Spree..

So I've ended up in Primark again, and bought a few bits, some for holidays and some just general everyday stuff. I can't help myself when I go in this shop I always end up coming out with something, and usually its things that I don't need!

1. Fur gillet £14.00
2. False eyelashes £1.00
3. Black denim look bralet £5.00
4. Platform slingbacks £16.00
5. Gold and black flip flops £1.90
6. Black and cream stretch headband £1.50
7. White glitter peeptoes £16.00

This is what I bought..
Both pairs of heels where the only ones left in my size, what a stroke of luck! Being a size 5 it's usually a nightmare finding any shoes in my size that I actually like! The slingbacks are a faux suede material and are really comfortable. The flip flops were in the sale for £1.90 so I had to have them, there were lots of different colours but I went for black and gold as I thought they would go with more. The fur gillet was so adorable and great for these cold days! It was availale in a black and white spotty style too. I've never tried the eyelashes from Primark but a few of my friends use them and swear by them, especially for £1.00 a pair! They aren't natural hair like the usual lashes I wear but they always look great on my friends so thought I would give them a try. The denim style bralet was a bargain at £5.00 and came in a blue denim aswell - mine looks blue on the picture but its actually black.. I love customising clothes so thought this would be ideal to do this to (i'll upload pics once i've done it). Finally is the headband. It has a bow on the top and is stretch material , very summery and great for holidays. I hope you like what I bought :)

Has anyone tried the primark lashes? Who else likes to customise clothes? What do you think I should do to the bralet top?..

Barry M dazzle dust eyeshadows

I love Barry M products and thought I woud do a post with some of the new dazzle dust eyeshadows that I have bought. They were £4.50 each from Boots, you can get them in Superdrug too and on the Barry M website. I tried to go for a few colours that I wouldnt normally buy to try them out and also bought 2 that I have used before.

Top left - 22, Top right - 82
Bottom left - 20, Bottom middle - 39, Bottom Right 51
The dazzle dust eyeshadows are really sparkly and look great on a night out. They are so shummery when the light catches them..my pics really dont do them justice!
So the colours I went for were 39-Tan, 51-Mushroom, 22-Onyx Gold, 82-Mint Green and 20-Baby Blue. I have used 39 and 22 before and ran out so decided to get them again as I loved them..and I also decided to try a few brighter colours that I wouldnt usually wear to see what they were like.

As you can see on my hand they do look a bit sparkly but the picture really doesent capture the true shimmer. Boots and Superdrug have sample pots of all the colours so you need to go and try them for yourself and then you will see why I love them so much.

If anyone has used any other colours please let me know which ones and what you think of them as I would love to try some others.

Primark holiday haul

I'm off on holiday in August and I'm in the middle of buying my new clothes to take with me..so I thought I'd have a trip to Primark. I love primark.. especially when buying clothes that are currently in fashion as they are so cheap and its no big deal when they go out of fashion cos you havent spent an absolute fortune on them. You can always pick up a few bargains and I tought I would share what I bought on my trip today.

(1) Leopard tassle top £5  (2) Cream lace playsuit £15  (3) Coral palm tree playsuit £7  (4) Aztec necklace £2  (5) Palm tree vest £3  (6) Sunglasses £5 for both  (7) Sandals £12

ASOS £100 Challenge

I seen this competiton advertised on 'The Student Room' and seeing as I'm new to blogging I thought I might see what its all about. Basically you have to search the ASOS website and pick yourself an outfit for no more than £100 and the prize for the best outfit is a £100 voucher to spent on the website, sounds pretty good to me! The competition is hosted Discount Coder Blog and looks to be very popular so far..

So here is my entry :)

I've gone for a summer/beach/holiday look.. ideal for a hot daytime in the uk and would be something I would wear on an evening on holiday.

1. This printed vest top was £16.00 but was in the sale for £9.50. It is definatley something I will be buying for my holidays. It has dropped arms so could be worn with a bandeau crop top underneath if you didnt feel comfortable having only your bra under it. The back is plain white and it has a scooped neckline.

2. I decided to have these earrings in my outfit before I had even planned what type of outfit I was looking for! They are gold with pink studs and pink tips and sort of reinded me of long lions teeth lol which does go with my vest top which has a tiger print on it.. (ps this is not why I picked the top lol just a similarity I made haha).

3. I love short shorts and these ones are lovely. They have a washed out look and dropped pockets with a frayed edge along the bottoms. I would probably tuck the vest top into them and wear with a nice thin brown and gold belt but I couldnt find one I really liked on ASOS so didnt want to include one on here just for the sake of it.

4. Again this bracelet reminded me of lions teeth and I thought it woud work really well with the earrings and the print on the vest top. Could be teamed up with a few other random bracelets too if you wanted to wear more than one.

5. The main colours of my outfit are brown/orange/cream/gold and then the blue denim jeans.. so to go with the majority of colour in the outfit I chose a coral nail polish. Coral is my favourite colour at the moment and I think it would go lovely with this outfit and its also a very summery colour so goes with the theme I have chosen.

6. I love aviator sunglasses and these ones were only £6.00 in the sale so I had to include them! They have gold frames to match with the gold jewellery and have a hint of brown in the lenses. Very fashionable and versatile so will go with lots of different outfits.

7. Finally I've chosen some flat sandals because my theme is beach/summer/holiday type of thing and I wouldnt usually take heels on holiday as its too hot and uncomfortable, and I wouldnt really go to the beach in heels either! They have small blue and brown beads on the front which match with the denim shorts and the top and were in the sale reduced from £40.00 to £20.00 which I think is a bargain!

My outfit came to a total of £100 exactly and if by some amazing stroke of luck I was to win the £100 vouchers I will most definatley be buying the lot.. fingers crossed :)

Colour me CORAL

My fav colour at the moment is coral. Its such a summery colour, not that we are having much of a summer. In this post I've picked some products which I really like and as the name of the post suggests all of them are CORAL. I am really bad for buying everything in really plain boring colours like black..so my mission is to buy everything that I put in my colour me posts and hopefully brighten up my collection or clothes and accessories. I've picked 1 piece of clothing, 1 pair of shoes, 1 accessory, 1 piece of jewellery and 1 beauty product.

£2.95 Exotic brights nail polish shade Coral Flair from Accessorize

£42.00 London rebel wedge from Asos SALE

£10.00 Large beaded drop earrings from Topshop SALE
£4.00 Floppy sun hat from NewLook SALE

£35.00 Lace skater dress from River Island

Hope you like what I've picked..hopefully I will pick these items up soon and start my coral collection :)

Tuesdays Top 5

So this is my first real post and is a post which I will be doing weekly - providing I have a spare half an hour.
Basically I am going to pick an online shop and pick 5 of my favourite items from their 'New In' and 'Just Arrived' sections...and this week its RIVER ISLAND, so here it goes.

£40.00 cream pocket blazer
I love blazers and cream is one of the few colours I don't have. It has long sleeves which I would usually roll up to make 3/4 length. Very simple and can be worn casually or teamed up with a gorgeous dress for a night out.

£35.00 coral lace skater dress
Coral is one of my fav colours at the minute so I absolutley love this dress! Its skater style so a bit flared out at the bottom, with a thin waist belt to pull in the waist for a figure hugging effect. Very summery and ideal for holidays.

£60.00 leight beige pu fallaway jacket
I think this jacket is really nice and is pu material which is like a fake leather feel. It has a double buckle fastening and looks like it has a short hair/fur inside which makes it comfortable and warm.

£2.50 rose gold tone cross ring
This ring is really plain but really pretty. It is rose gold coloured which is sort of a pinky gold, and would look great with pretty much any outfit. For £2.50 you really cant go wrong..

£65.00 white strappy sandals
I dont have many high heeled sandals and its something I should probably stock up on for summer nights out. These sandals come in a dark grey colour too, but I really like the white as they will probably go with more. They have a 12cm heel so pretty high...the higher the better for me!

So that is my first 'Tuesdays Top 5' post.. hope you like what I've chosen, let me know what you think :)
